Interview with Nacho: When Interior Design Connects with Nature
Our interview with Nacho Álvarez, creative director at Onlyou, offers insight into an approach to design where aesthetics, functionality, and nature coexist in harmony. Drawing on his background in architecture and interior design, Nacho has developed a unique approach that transforms every space into a sensory experience.
A regular contributor to Green+Decorum, in this conversation we explore how to incorporate greenery into interior design projects without losing the essence of the space, focusing on materials, textures, and solutions that add value and personality.
An interview that weaves together design, nature, and emotion in every detail.
We spoke with… Nacho
The Origins and Philosophy of Onlyou
How did Onlyou come about, and how would you describe your studio’s style?
Onlyou is an interior design studio born out of the professional experience—both nationally and internationally—of Nacho Álvarez, creative director and CEO.
The studio creates distinctive interior design projects that go beyond the visual, crafting unique experiences for users in both dining spaces and private residences.
Each project reflects a deeply sensory sensibility, with a timeless, serene, and elegant style that transcends fleeting trends. The spaces designed by Onlyou express the designer’s soul in every detail.
What kind of projects excite you the most?
We’re excited by clients who trust the process from the very beginning. Whether it’s a restaurant with its own unique identity or a home that exudes calm, every project is an opportunity to exceed expectations.
The result always remains consistent: personality and coherence in every design decision.
Partnership with Green+Decorum
How did you first hear about Green+Decorum?
Eight years ago, during a project at a five-star resort that required a wide variety of plants. We’ve been working together ever since.
Today, greenery is an essential part of her projects, with unique elements incorporated into each design.
What attracted you to our proposals when you decided to start working with us?
The team’s problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and precision. Plus, the variety of solutions allows us to tailor each project with a unique touch.
Loyalty, honesty, and working with dedicated people are key values in this partnership.
What value do you see in using artificial and preserved greenery in your projects?
Incorporating nature is becoming increasingly important. Elements such as moss, olive trees, or living walls bring an organic feel that revitalizes spaces.
Artificial and preserved vegetation allows for the creation of balanced environments where nature is experienced in an authentic and harmonious way.
What would you highlight about the process of working with our team?
The ability to easily grasp each proposal and turn it into a tangible reality, while always staying true to the project’s original concept.
What has been your favorite project with Green+Decorum so far, and why?
More than any specific project, what’s most valuable are the relationships we build with each client. Turning their ideas into reality creates lasting bonds.
Interior Design and Nature
How do you view the role of greenery in interior design today?
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s essential to create spaces that invite people to linger—places with a sense of identity, stability, and emotional connection.
Nature plays a key role in this process, helping to enhance well-being and foster a connection with the environment.
If you had to describe in one sentence what Green+Decorum brings to your projects, what would it be?
Personality.
